Dr. Vogels is Vice President & Chief Technology Officer at Amazon.com where he is responsible for driving the company's technology vision, which is to continuously enhance the innovation on behalf of Amazon's customers at a global scale. Prior to joining Amazon, he worked as a researcher at Cornell University where he was a principal investigator in several research projects that target the scalability and robustness of mission-critical enterprise computing systems. He has held positions of VP of Technology and CTO in companies that handled the transition of academic technology into industry. Dr. Vogels holds a Ph.D. from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and has authored many articles for journals and conferences, most of them on distributed systems technologies for enterprise computing. He was named the 2008 CTO of the Year by Information Week for his contributions to making Cloud Computing a reality. For his unique style in engaging customers, media and the general public, Dr Vogels received the 2009 Media Momentum Personality of the Year Award.

Dr Giles Hogben is programme manager for secure services at the European Network and Information Security Agency in Greece. He is co-author of ENISA's widely cited report Cloud Computing: Benefits, Risks and Recommendations for Information Security. He has published numerous papers on Network and Information security, including on topics such as Social Network security and European Identity card privacy. ENISA - the European Network and Information Security Agency, works for the EU Institutions and Member States. ENISA is the EU’s response to security issues of the European Union. ENISA helps the European Commission, the Member States and the business community to address, respond and especially to prevent Network and Information Security problems. Before joining ENISA, Giles was a researcher at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy and led work on private credentials in the EU PRIME project (Privacy and Identity Management for Europe), managed by IBM Research, Zurich. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Gdansk University of Technology in Poland and graduated from Oxford University, UK in 1994 in Physics and Philosophy.
