Enda Kenny TD
Taoiseach
Enda Kenny was elected as Taoiseach on March 9th 2011.

He was elected Leader of Fine Gael in June 2002. Since then, he has rebuilt the party. Under his leadership Fine Gael has gained seats in every single location. In the general election in 2011 Fine Gael won 76 seats, becoming the largest party in the Dáil.

In the local elections in 2009 Fine Gael won 340 seats, becoming the largest party at local level for the first time in history.

Enda has represented the people of Mayo as a Fine Gael member of Dáil
Éireann since 1975. He served as Minister for Tourism and Trade from 1994 – 1997, overseeing an unprecedented growth in tourism business and Ireland’s trade position internationally. He was Minister for State at the Department of Education, Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Western Development, Youth Affairs and Sport.

Enda is married to Fionnuala. They have 3 teenage children, Aoibhinn,
Ferdia and Naoise. He enjoys hillwalking, cycling, golf, has climbed Croagh Patrick over 100 times and Kilimanjaro for charity. He played for, managed and coached his local team Islandeady GAA for many years to County Championship victories.
William Fellows
Principal Analyst, The 451 Group, UK
The 451 Group is an independent technology-industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation. William is VP Research EMEA, and Research Director of the CloudScape service. He created and drives 451’s early adopter research program with end-users and innovators across a range of vertical markets.

He has identified and tracked early adopter markets including grid and virtualization among enterprise users from 2000 and since 2007 the program been principally focused on cloud computing. As well as the end user constituency, William covers the suppliers - vendors, integrators and service providers – in the cloud market.

William is a thought-leader on Cloud Computing and a regular speaker at industry and 451 conferences. He participates in numerous advisory boards and planning committees for UK and international industry bodies. His team also leads 451’s activities within the European Commission and numerous EC research projects. William is a co-founder of 451, a member of the EC Cloud Expert Group, and co-author of The Future of Cloud Computing – Opportunities for European Cloud Computing Beyond 2010. 

David Wilde
Chief Information Officer, Essex County Council, UK
 Serving a population of 1.4million people, Essex County Council is the second most populated county in England.

Currently CIO for Essex County Council, David is establishing a new strategy for the County based on cloud adoption, shared services through collaboration and a move towards self service provision through digital engagement including take-up of social media.

David was previously CIO for Westminster City Council where he set up and implemented an exciting new ICT strategy based on the principles of customer centric service delivery, a zero infrastructure technology environment and transformational change, resulting in cost reductions of over 30% and dramatically improved customer satisfaction levels.

Prior to that David was CIO at the London Borough of Waltham Forest, with responsibility for the Council’s access to services strategy, transforming service delivery, all ICT and the Project and Programme management profession.

Earlier roles included Head of e-Business and Head of Internal and Electronic Communications for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), where he was responsible for development and delivery the ICT strategy and service management, e-government and internal and electronic communications strategies and operations. He also ran Internet service development and delivery for the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) and worked on Schools capital policy in the Department for Education and Employment, including the New Deal for Schools programme.

Seamus Reilly
Director, IT Risk & Assurance, Ernst & Young
Seamus is a Director in Ernst & Young’s IT Risk and Assurance (ITRA) practice specialising in information security. Seamus leads Ernst & Young’s Information Security practice providing security consultancy and assurance in large security programmes. He also assists with privacy, business continuity, application and network security, threat and risk modelling for commercial and government clients globally. He joined Ernst & Young in 1997, having previously worked for British Telecom as a senior Information Security advisor and as a project manager. John
Mojtaba Akbari
Head of IT, The K Club
 Graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Information Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology, Mojtaba joined British Telecom Ireland as a Network Support Consultant where he provided support services to a wide range of internal and external clients. During his time with BT he has been involved in diverse range of projects focusing mainly on broadband access and services.

In 2007, Mojtaba joined the K club as Head of IT where he is responsible to provide executive direction and supervision for all entities within Information Systems inside the organization. He has developed and introduced an up to date network infrastructure model benefiting from reduced energy consumption and hardware infrastructure cost by virtualization and optimal allocation of organization’s computing resources through a private cloud system.

In addition to IT operations, Mojtaba is currently leading The K Club’s Green Team activities in implementing effective IT and security monitoring policies to achieve sustainable management systems. This will be achieved by investigating appropriate renewable energy sources, waste reduction and adoption of cloud computing technologies.

Anne Brady, FCA
Managing Partner, Anne Brady McQuillans DFK
 Anne is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Taxation Institute. She is also a member of the Institite of Internal Auditors and the Life Insurance Association (LIA). Prior to starting her own practice in 1992 Anne both worked and trained with KPMG.
Anne oversees the development of the firm and ensures that the team is kept abrest of improvements within the accountancy profession ensuring that the service we provide is of the highest quality and value for our clients. As a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) Anne provides valuable advice on all aspects of wealth management including pensions and investment business.
Anne specialises in advising charities and not for profit entities and has acted as Project Director on a number of construction projects for charity clients. She is an expert in advising business start ups, fund-raising, implementing internal controls and assisting with restructuring and reorganisation of companies.

Anne is a well-respected member in the accounting community and sits on the Information Technology Services Committee of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the EMEA Board of DFK International. She lectures regularly for Chartered Accountants Ireland, Accounting Technicians Ireland, and Certified Public Accountants and is a regular speaker at DFK international and national conferences.

Laurentiu Vasiliu
Founder & CEO, Peracton Ltd
 Owner, founder of Peracton Ltd. Ireland (www.peracton.com) and 
inventor of MAARS and M2MN technologies. Peracton, a company based in
Galway, was founded in 2010 to deliver cutting-edge financial software
solutions for investment via the Cloud (Stocks, Funds, ETFs, Bonds,
Portfolio Management, Risk Assessment, etc), to solve complex business
and analytical problems in the investment management area and retail
banking space. Before starting Peracton, Laurentiu was R&D group leader with DERI, NUIG.

He holds a PhD Degree in IT/Industrial Engineering at National University of Ireland, Galway.

Paul Norton
IT Manager, Jones Engineering
 Group IT manager for Jones Engineering, a multi-disciplined engineering contracting company. Paul, has worked in IT for more than 20 years and has 14 years experience managing IT within business.

Paul, has M.Sc. in IT from NUI Galway, and a B.Sc. computer science from Trinity College Dublin.


David Cullen
Partner, Technology, IP & Commercial, William Fry
David joined William Fry in 1999 and became a partner in 2001. He is a member of the Technology, Intellectual Property and the Biotechnology & Healthcare Groups. He qualified as a solicitor in Ireland in 1993. He is also qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and as a Community Trade Mark Attorney.

David specialises in advising on the strategic protection and development of intellectual property portfolios as well as technology issues. David has extensive experience in working with many leading Irish and multinational firms, advising on the impact of a wide and ever increasing range of laws relating to the use of Intellectual Property and Information Technology, including biotechnology, personality rights, event merchandising, data protection, freedom of information and electronic commerce.


Tim Murphy
Founder & CEO, Strencom
Tim Murphy founded Strencom in late 2000 after spending 3 years with Esat telecom (now BT Ireland) in a Business Development role in the Internet division. Strencom is one of Irelands leading and fastest growing providers of data network and cloud computing services. Strencom focus on IaaS and Private Cloud, and have recently completed some exciting projects. He is a successful entrepreneur with over 18 years experience in sales and marketing. Tim has been responsible for the growth of Strencom since 2000 to the current day. Strencom’s managed Next Generation Data Network (NGN) offers considerable cost savings, security and flexibility over comparable services. The company is ranked in the Deloitte Technology Fast Growth 50 for Ireland and the Deloitte Fast 500 for EMEA and is 100% privately owned.
Lavinia Morris
Head of IT Operations, Friends First Group
As Head of IT Operations, Lavinia has responsibility for Strategy Development, Infrastructure Management and Development, Service Delivery and Information Security. With a background in Electronic Engineering, Lavinia has worked in the ICT sector for over 15 years holding a number of technical, architecture and managerial roles within both Friends First and a number of other institutions. She is currently the chair of the Irish Internet Associations Working Group on Cloud Computing.The IIA Cloud Computing Working Group is a collaboration of expert practioners and business leaders (e.g. CTOs, CIOs) from a variety of business sectors and organisation sizes in Ireland. The group which has equal representation from both the vendor and customer communities has been brought together to examine and debate the merits and challenges of Cloud Computing.


Gerry Murray
Public Sector Territory Manager, EMC Ireland

Gerry leads the Public Sector business for EMC, with a focus on Private Cloud enablement for the Irish Public Sector. 

 

He is a strong advocate of the benefits of Cloud technologies and innovations and the part these can play in enabling the Public Services transformation agenda across Education, Health and Government.

 

Prior to joining EMC, Gerry headed up the IBM Division of Morse Group and also served as Managing Director of an Irish based software company.

 

Gerry began his career with the Jefferson Smurfit Group as Head of Information Systems at their world headquarters. Here, he oversaw a number of major I.T. developments within the Group, culminating in the deployment of SAP throughout their extensive European operations.


John Easton
CTO, Systems & Technology Group, IBM UK & Ireland
 John is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the Chief Technology Officer for IBM Systems and Technology Group in the UK & Ireland. He is internationally known for his work helping commercial clients exploit large scale distributed computational infrastructures, particularly those utilising new and emerging technologies.

John is currently the UK Technical Leader for Cloud Computing shaping IBM strategy in this key business area.

He has worked with clients in a wide range of industries: predominantly banks and financial markets firms but he also has significant experience in the telecommunications, public & government sectors. Previous to his current role, John was the Chief Infrastructure Architect for a first-of-a-kind core banking infrastructure replacement programme.

Over his time at IBM John has led IBM initiatives around hybrid systems, computational acceleration technologies, grid computing and mission-critical systems. John is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and a Senior Technologist in the IBM Innovation Network.

Paul Rellis
Managing Director
 Paul Rellis was appointed Managing Director of Microsoft Ireland in December 2007. As MD he is responsible for Microsoft Corporation’s business in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and also represents Microsoft on all strategic policy and communications issues in Ireland.

Prior to being appointed MD, Paul was the Managing Director for Microsoft’s European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Operations Centre, based in Sandyford, Co. Dublin. His role included overseeing Microsoft's channel partners, supply chain, finance and order management across the region. The EMEA Operations Center services 131 countries across five timezones. Previously, he held the position of Finance Director for Microsoft Operations in EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

He joined Microsoft in January 2000 from The Coca-Cola Company, where he held a variety of senior positions in Finance, Marketing and Operations in both the Coca-Cola HQ in Atlanta and in Germany.

Paul was President of the American Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and continues to be a board member of the organisation. He is also a member of the Governing Body of IBEC, is a member of the Board of the IMI and of the National Digital Research Centre.

Kyle Johnston
Head of Technical Sales, Leaf Consultancy
 Kyle Johnston is Head of Technical Sales at Leaf in Belfast. Leaf is a leading ICT company and a Cloud Computing Champion. Kyle has now been working in the IT industry for more than 14 years, 10 of which have been in a sales capacity. Having been with Leaf for almost a year now, he moving from a role of Sales Director from another IT operation and has worked in both software and hardware sides of the industry dealing with clients from 2000 users down to the SME, before moving into the solutions space.

His role at Leaf is looking after the firm’s strong existing client base, while concentrating the rest of the time on a key business development role. He identifies the main area of growth which accounts for a lot of his time at the moment as Cloud Computing and that there is no doubt that the cloud will become the number one method for delivery of IT services. At Leaf a strong emphasis is put on training and knowledge it’s that level of knowledge which allows us to work closely alongside the Microsoft’s and other giants in this industry as partners.


Simon Withers
Strategy & Development, Cloud & Managed Services, Sungard
Simon has now spent over 20 years in IT, having spent the last 12 years with SunGard. He joined SunGard in 1998 where he worked within the service delivery organisation, Simon then changed roles two years later, and was one of the original members of the team who founded the Web Hosting Services division of the business, now known as Managed Services.

Simon has provided both pre-sales, post-sales and solution architecture design for both production and Web hosting, and is also credited with the launch and development of SunGard CWP (Continuous Web Presence), EAS (Email Availability Services), Managed Server Replication Services and more recently the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) that forms SunGard’s Enterprise Cloud Services.

He has a plethora of experience in Internet, Systems, Storage, Virtualisation and Security technologies; Simon’s time now focuses on the future service development and strategy for SunGard, Simon regularly presents on future and emerging technologies and concepts that have included Cloud Computing, Storage as a Service, Replication as a Service, High Availability and ‘Always-on’ computing.

Simon is an active social media representative for SunGard (http://www.sungard.com/socialmedia) and writes his own SunGard blog named ‘100 days in the cloud’ (http://www.100daysinthecloud.com).

Jerry Sweeney
Managing Director, Cork Internet eXchange
Jerry Sweeney is the Managing Director of the Cork Internet eXchange, a hyper-energy-efficient data centre. He is active in the OpenStack community. OpenStack is a global open source cloud computing initiative. OpenStack is a collaborative software project among several big players in the cloud computing space, designed to create freely available code, standards and common ground for the benefit of both cloud providers and cloud customers.
