Paul is a recognized leader and sought-after
speaker on issues of clean tech and energy efficiency.
Paul served as Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Department of Energy's
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) from 2006
until his return to Haynes and Boone recently. He oversaw the
EERE's $1.8 billion budget and helped move alternative and
renewable energy technologies from the 'vision' stage to real-world
development. Paul is knowledgeable on the pressing needs of the
global energy market and regularly speaks about the tangible,
real-world solutions that can be implemented now, from increasing efficiency, bio-fuels, solar and wind investments, to connecting venture
capitalists with the cutting-edge scientific researchers in the field of
sustainable energy. He also served as Chief of Staff for the United States
and Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Paul has extensive experience with corporate turn-arounds and
holds great knowledge about the new wave of renewable energy and
energy efficiency technologies that will power America and the world
in the 21st century. Under his leadership, the US Department of
Energy changed its direction toward commercialization of technology
and quickened the pace of moving these groundbreaking energy
solutions from the laboratory to the international marketplace. |
| John Campion |

John Campion was appointed Executive
Director, Sustainability in March 2008.
Previously he had held the position of
Executive Director, Human Resources Corporate affairs since November 2002. A Civil Engineer by
profession, John joined ESB in 1978 and has worked in various roles
connected with industrial relations and personnel management,
including Manager Human Resources in Power Generation. He also
worked as a regional manager in both Sligo and Dublin. Prior to his
appointment as Executive Director, he was Head of Network Projects. |
| Katrina Polaski, |

Technologies, Sustainable Energy
Ireland |
Kartina Polaski joined SEI in 2002, where she
serves as Head of Low Carbon Technologies
managing policy and technology research for
renewable energy and other low carbon energy
options. Previously Karina was Head of
Renewable Energy, Energy Economist and Senior Policy Analyst with
SEI. Katrina serves as Ireland's representative on the IEA Renewable
Energy Working Party, and has represented SEI on a number of
interdepartmental policy and advisory groups. Katrina holds
an MBA from INSEAD, a BA in economics from Claremont
McKenna College, and a CPA from her home state of California. |
| Dermot Byrne |
| Cheif Executive, EirGrid |
Dermot Byrne was appointed Chief Executive
of EirGrid in July 2005. Dermot has extensive
senior management experience in the electricity
industry in Ireland and abroad. From 1993
to 1997 he was Manager, Power System
Operation in ESB National Grid. In the late 1990s
he worked in senior roles within ESB customer services
and power generation areas. In 2000 he was appointed
as the first Head of ESB Networks, where he oversaw the major
ramp-up in investment in transmission and distribution infrastructure.
In his role as Chief Executive of EirGrid, Dermot has developed
EirGrid into a group structure with responsibilities in Northern
Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, comprising EirGrid TSO, System
Operator Northern Ireland (SONI), and the Single Electricity Market
Operator (SEMO). He is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and he is also
a distinguished member of the international electricity body CIGRE. |
| Kieran O’Brien |
| Chairman, Energy Standing Committee, Irish Academy of Engineering |
Kieran retired five years ago from his position
as Managing Director of ESB National Grid,
Ireland's independent transmission system
operator. He served as a member of the
Executive Management Group of ESB for more
than 15 years. During his time as MD, Ireland deregulated its
electricity industry and commenced a major programme of renewables
investment, mainly in wind power. Kieran has participated as a
specialist advisor/director on key consultancy and overseas
operational projects for ESB International.
In 1998 he oversaw the establishment of ESBI Alberta, a company formed
to provide transmission administration services for the province for a
period of five years. Mr O'Brien has recently advised on the restructuring
of the electricity sector in Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan and Serbia. He
has represented ESB on a wide range of international bodies and was
a founding member of Eurelectric, the industry group representing all
EU generating companies. Kieran has served two three year terms as a
member of the Officer's Council of the World Energy Council (WEC).
He has recently been appointed Acting Secretary General of the World
Energy Council pending the appointment of a new person to
this position. |
| Jim Gannon |
| Associate Director, RPS Group |
Jim is a Chartered Engineer with a Masters in
Environmental Assessment and leads RPS's
sustainable energy services from their Dublin Office. He has provided a range of renewable energy
and engineering consultancy services to both the
public and the private sectors over the last ten years.
Jim has worked in large-scale renewable energy project development and
also in technology commercialisation, defining technology capability
and market capacities. He has specialised in the identification of RES-E
project risk and mitigation and has applied this to a range of technologies
and projects from wind through to biomass and waste to energy. He
has also provided strategic energy, sustainability and carbon advisory
services to a diverse range of public and private sector clients.
Jim is Chairman
of the Energy Division of Engineers Ireland and has recently produced a paper
for, and represented the Institution at,
the Future Climate: Engineering Solutions worldwide initiative on
energy technologies feeding into COP 15 in Denmark at the end of 2009. |
| Dr Werner Kruckow |

Dr. Werner Kruckow was appointed Managing
Director of Siemens Ireland effective 1st October
2006. After studying electrical engineering and
completing his doctorate, Werner began his
career at Siemens in 1988 in the Transportation
Group. He was initially involved in Research and
Development at TS, later assuming responsibility
for sales and project management for trams and subway rolling stock
worldwide. In 1999 he was appointed technical manager of the Electrification Division at TS. Between 2001 and 2005 he managed
the Mass Transit Division in Erlangen, with a workforce
totalling 2,600. Most recently, he joined the Board of Siemens Ltd.
in 2005 and headed Siemens Building Technologies in Ireland. |

Sean is a corporate practitioner and head of
the firm's Green Economy Group. He has extensive
experience in corporate and commercial law,
advising on public and private capital fundraisings,
M&A transactions and project financing, with a
particular focus on the cleantech and renewable
energy sectors. He also advises on commercial licensing, development
and joint venture transactions, both domestic and international,
for clients in these sectors. |
