Now in its fourth year, the National Renewable Energy Summit is Ireland’s best-established event for the business of renewable energy. This one day event will unite project developers, engineers, financiers and energy companies from across the renewable energy and technology sectors, to identify further opportunities for growth and investment in the sector.
Despite ailing economic times, the renewable energy sector has become the ‘hot’ area for investment. Factors such as geographical location, enhanced grid connections and new tariffs for offshore wind and marine energy have led to enhanced growth and investment. Despite all the good news stories, Ireland must ensure it makes the right decisions for continued and optimal growth so we don’t have regrets later. Part of Ireland’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan includes an ambitious ‘export’ scenario that is dependent on additional investment in energy infrastructure including offshore wind and tidal. This scenario describes us going well beyond our compliance targets and becoming both a net exporter of energy and test bed for new technologies. What has to be done in order for this vision to be realized? What challenges are currently blocking Ireland from becoming a global leader in this sector? What can we learn from successful projects to date? How do we scale-up Ireland’s energy infrastructure? These and other questions will be answered at the 4th National Renewable Energy Summit.
